A scammer sent me an email asking if he can talk to me. I asked why, and he sent this. Never seen this before. Should I even bother baiting him? Probably not worth baiting him either way.

Is the scammer pretending to be anyone you know? Or did he just appear out of nowhere?
Give him a try. Bluelady knows about an outlet where you can buy gift cards; the nice man at the counter will even scratch them for you!

I guess it could be classed as a begging with a sob story. All your being offered is the slight chance that you'll be reimbursed whatever you send as soon as their back from their travels.

It is probably a lie, but as it stands, he is not asking for an advance fee in return for something tangible and valuable. He is begging for a loan.
