I had a scammer try to send me to an ATM that allowed you to buy Bitcoin. Though there are a few near me, I told that scammer there were none. They bought it. That scammer spent the next 14 months talking to me, with me as two different characters on two different apps.
As for buying bitcoin from an ATM…no, not happening.

I've never seen a Bitcoin ATM anywhere in my city. How common (or rare) are they in other parts of the world? Enlighten me, please.

Poor woman. The urgency the scammers use on victims flusters them into doing what they are told to do. Shame the bank officials intervention didn't stop the transfer.
********* What is even more shameless is the 1st reply in the comments of that article to a "funds recovery specialist". Bogus testimonials and stolen pics!

I watch various videos on victims of romance scams and often banks are turning them down and telling them them it is a scam. I know scammers have been using bitcoin for a while but I believe it will increase as more and more banks refuse to give the victim the money when they believe it is a scam.

I've never seen one ever, looks like in Ontario Canada they are mainly in Toronto the cities capital. That's hours from me and honestly been there and hate the place. Looks beautiful in photos but it's actually not. 6.5 Million people and none know how to drive, LOL i think that's typical of any big city..

I don’t think we have them in the U.K. but I’m sure someone will put me right if I’m wrong!

I live in the US and there's 3 bitcoin ATMs within a mile. Certain Coinstar kiosks also allow you to purchase bitcoin.

I live in the Denver metro in Colorado and there are quite a few nearby. I have gone to a few different types of these and made videos of the screen options, so when trolling the scammers (mostly from India), I can tell them what I see on the screen by replaying the video for the correct ATM.
All these machines give multiple notifications about scams of course, but interestingly, the scammers always appear to send me to crypto ATM at stores owned by people from India and never once do the people at the store, warn you about scams. If there is a connection, the store owners can be held accountable, methinks.
