I’m currently dealing with a romance scammer on Google Hangout. Hangout is the preferred chat app for scammers. I’ve had this one on my hook for a while, and no matter how hard I drag this scammer, they keep coming back for more. Each time I think I’ve taken this chat to the fridge, they pop up again. They want that money, and say whatever sweet nothings they come up with to get it. I have posted the chat on Facebook on my page, The Scammer Slayer. Part 1: / Part 2: / Part 3: / Part 4: / This is ongoing so there will be updates.

In the interest of research...I am fairly certain this is Australian actress Angela White.

It is. This scammer wasn’t very consistent in profile pics, because they’ve sent pics of a different girl entirely. The laziest scammer ever, yet still on my hook.

You will have to copy/paste. AFAIK, there is no way to upload a file on Proboards. You may send me a PM with your link and I will look it over. We will go from there and I look forward to your baits!

I use imgur. I reduce images to max 600px along longest edge, upload to imgur, and use the imgur forum link code here.

Here’s an update on this bait.
This scammer has asked repeatedly for Steam cards. My ex wife was able to provide two empty ones (I suspect she got scammed herself) that I initially took blurry and obscured pictures of. In one, my cat’s paws were on one of the cards. When I finally took clearer pics, the scammer complained that the cards were bad, to which I would answer, “I think my nephews used the card. It was sitting by my computer.”
I have found out that in lieu of Steam cards, this scammer would take Nintendo eShop cards, as well. So I had $90 worth of these eShop cards, two $20 cards and a $50 card, all of them empty, and took a picture of the front of the cards and the scammer got all excited. But, there’s a problem: I kept using them. I said to the scammer I used one of the $20s to download Namco Museum Archives Vol 1, and the $50 card to download the Mortal Kombat 11 expansion. I have one $20 card left, already empty anyway, that might get used for something else.
This scammer seems to have incredible patience. But they’re dumber than a box of rocks. I told the scammer the other day, I was at the arcade for my nephew’s birthday, and I get this question:
“Is your nephew's boy or girl?”
This is copied and pasted! I only added the quotation marks.

I’ve finally taken this romance scammer to the fridge. Imagine this romance scammer, only wanting $2000 in untraceable Steam cards, only to then find themselves in an impromptu job interview with the madame of a Nevada brothel. I wasn’t able to reach my final form with this, but it was fun nonetheless. I could just imagine this scammer’s face when they were pulled into this group chat where they were talking to me and a madame (also me). As of right now, they have not attempted to message me.

I spoke too soon. This scammer doesn’t know when to quit. They want that Steam card. LOL

I always have fun with the steam cards. My old character always reads them as steam punk cards. You want steam punk cards? no problem

I posted a Steam card that I already posted months ago (I only have two Steam bait cards), and told the scammer that I am going on a road trip to Utah for the weekend (my character lives in Nevada). The scammer sent me several messages that the card is no good, that it’s been used. I’m going to leave it till Monday and see where we’re at.
I thought it was done when I tried to offer the scammer a job at Cactus Jane’s. If need be, I’ll drag this scammer till they give up.

Update: The scammer now thinks I’m getting married. Nothing like a nice fake fiancé to add some doubt.

Update: This scammer is still hanging on, so it’s time to pull out the big guns. In this part of the chat, I’m pretending to be Madame Fiona, and I just sent a message to “Kate,” asking how soon they can be out in the Nevada desert. No reply yet, but I’m working on a story, like we’re going rogue and reopening in spite of the governor’s orders (which I hope no actual brothel decides to do), and see where that leads. Also, the scammer hasn’t talked to Jack since he got engaged, so that will be worked in, too.

I say this a lot, but I think this scammer doesn’t want to play anymore. This scammer has been off of Hangout for the past five days. This might change and I can go for a big mind fuck, but it looks like this romance scammer is finally done with me. You gotta give them a lot of credit for sticking with me this long.
Onto the next.

This scammer is back, and they want a picture of me. Now I’m not gonna send a picture of myself, but I have a few ideas.
Ron Jeremy Dennis Hof Tim McGraw Bill Clinton.
My brother says Clinton. I think either of the first two are funnier.

Ensure you use an image of someone obscure, like a C-Grade actor from Eastern Europe. Use PhotoShop to flip it and then rotate by say, 5%. That way, it shouldn't show up in any reverse image searches. Don't use someone obvious like a US President; that just tells the Scammer that you are playing with him, which we Scambaiters don't do.

You can also use an AI-generated picture (go to thispersondoesnotexist.com and reload until the person fits the characteristics of your baiting character)

I used a pic of Dennis Hof, which was fitting as the character I play is supposed to be a Nevada brothel owner, and this scammer said, “Is this you?” I told them, “Yes.” They didn’t buy it, but they’re still contacting me. They want that money. Now they’re asking for Google Play cards. I have a bunch of those, but they’re all empty.

This scammer has no quit in them at all. But they are getting impatient.
I tried to take the chat in an interesting direction. My character, Jack, left his phone on his desk, and an employee of Jack’s, Luther, grabs the phone and starts chatting. As Luther, I ask this scammer if they have WhatsApp, and they do. Sadly, WhatsApp uses your own phone number and I’m not particularly cool with that. I can’t use my Flyp number with that.
The trials and tribulations of dragging scammers, man.

I am now baiting the same scammer on three different DMs as three different characters. It’s definitely a challenge!

Holy cow!! Google sent me two text messages telling me a verification code! The scammer asked me if I received them and asked if I’d share them! They’re trying to hack into my account, it seems. Hell no!!

OMG! I should have consulted this page before I got romance scammed in 2015. He contacted me and sent pictures- thanks @ old nick 999. I guess it's the normal way to do it? I never found out who was the guy in the pictures, definitely not an actor or celebrity. But not too bright and I stopped it quickly.
You can also use an AI-generated picture (go to thispersondoesnotexist.com and reload until the person fits the characteristics of your baiting character)<= thanks @ Gerald Croft I also should have known this. I gave my real name and address- because who would lie on a serious dating site?

“Hello there handsome?”
How to respond...?
Confusion?
Shock?
As a different character?

I gave my real name and address- because who would lie on a serious dating site? Romance scams are more common than you realize. Match has a lot of scammers, as do many other dating sites. Even on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. That’s where a majority of my scammers come from. I (almost) learned the hard way about romance scams when I got an email from some girl using a “friend’s account” because she was too broke to use her own, and an email address was included. I wrote back and got a message back containing a link to this girl’s website and included a widget where they needed a credit card to verify your age. I didn’t have one at the time, and there was another option, “No credit card? Enter your bank information.” I didn’t, and I was pissed off and hurt. I got my hopes up and paid for it emotionally but not monetarily. I was almost scammed. I’m a lot smarter now, and I have a blast putting scammers in their place.
