This must be the cleverest scam that I have seen; anyone could fall for this. The acting ability as well.

Very convoluted for sure. The downfall seems to be the low payouts that necessitated so many victims.

Invitation out of the blue from an unknown person telling you to go to a different country and pay your own way and with a lawyer that you cannot find. How is this not an obvious scam?
Even if I did not know about various scams that exist, I still wouldn’t fall for something like this. And I like simple things. If something seems too complex, my mind gets boggled and I toss it to the side.
