Initial scammer crap:
"On 31. mai 2020, 23:16, James Edward < jamesedward27764@gmail.com> wrote:
I have a business proposal for you. I have a file of a client whom we where supposed to pay off his contract funds. We have been dealing with this for some years now and unfortunately he got infected with a corona virus and he didn't make. Right now, we do not have any Next of Kin to receive the funds. I am offering you this deal to present you as the next of kin. The amount in question is about $165M and i have all the documents to help you get this money. All you need is to accept my proposal and i am willing to share the funds with you 50% each. Do you think you can do this?"
My first response:
Thank you for your very tempting proposal, but it sounds a bit illegal so unfortunately I will have to decline.
I don't want to get in trouble with the police for doing something I shouldn't be doing.

He goes straight to the point and comes with the standard demands..
"Hello
Thank you for getting back to me . Just so you know that this transaction is 100% risk free. All i want is for us to share the money 50% each and we should be able to develop that trust. For me to update the record I have here so that I can include your information as the next of Kin, I will need the following information from you.
1. Your Complete Name 2. Age 3. Country of Origin 4. Country of Resident with your home address 5. State 6. Occupation 7. Phone Number
I need a copy of government issued ID"
Nah, we're not going there yet. I need some time to scan my corrupt file first, and you haven't made me trust you yet..
"How can you give away so much money? Is this maybe illegal drug money to be transferred away from the prying eyes of the Colombian police? It doesn't sound risk free..
Are you a member of the Colombian drug cartel, James?
Regards
Gillette"

A man of few words...
"When i said is risk free, truly it is risk free. We have a lawyer who will arrange all the necessary documentations."
Time to get to know eachother. There can be no trust without it. Putting some careful preassure on him..
"Hi,
I am very interested, but you don't give me much reason to trust you. I have no idea who you are, where you come from, or who your associates are. You say you have a lawyer, but how can I know you aren't both involved with the Columbians? You didn't answer my question about you being involved with the cartels either..
I would very much like to help you Sir, but first we need to build up some mutual trust, so that we know we have a partnership we can count on.
Let me begin:
My full name is Gillette Waldemar Teodor Oscar McAber. I am a Norwegian citizen of Scottish decent. I am married to the wonderful Donalda Thump McAber. Together we have 2 wonderful children, little Fontleroy and Rigidia of 6 and 13 years. I live just outside our wonderful capital Oslo and work as a private contractor.
I am prepared to work with you if the business we are embarking on is risk free, and if you are a Godfearing man I can trust.
Best regards
Gillette.."

Some more info from the lad.
"Hello Gillette
Thank you for your email. My name is James Edward and I am an Canadian citizen residing in the US. I am a private contract and i work with Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation here in America as a Data Analyst. The transaction is 100% legitimate. The deceased client is an American and I was working on his contract payment before he passed due to covid 19. From his records, he has no known family member on record and the top management of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation is not aware of this information. This is why i am using this opportunity to update his records and include you name in it so that you can get the money. I am only offering you 50% and I want you to help me donate 20% of my 50% to any community that have been badly affected by covid 19. I cannot be directly involved but if you promise me you can do it, then you have everything to benefit once we conclude this transaction. We have a lawyer who will help you with all the documentation and all you need to do is to pay the retainer fee. We could complete this transaction within a couple days and the funds will be in your bank account. Can you have this done?"

It has dawned on Gillette that he might soon be very rich. But first....
"Good evening again James,
Thank you for your swift reply and the information, and sorry for my late response but I have been out of town on a meeting today.
Your information was both enlightening as well as reassuring. Knowing that I will be working with a big Nigerian oil company puts this transaction in a completely new light for me.
Donalda will be soo exited to learn the news about the millions, and little Fontleroy and Rigidia can finally get new horses and cowboy outfits.
I will contact my lawyer and financial adviser first thing tomorrow morning to tell him about the millions and ask him about possible investment opportunities.
But I have to ask you now James, and you have to be utterly honest with me here; Are you a Godfearing man, James? Do you attend church every sunday and abstain from corporal indiscressions with sheep?
I truly hope so, for the sake of our partnership.
Best regards from your partner to be

He prefers to keep our transaction confidential.. đ
"Hello
Thank you for your email. First I will love to inform you that at this point, you do not need to inform your lawyer or financial adviser. This transaction will remain 100% confidential until i am completely done with my part.
We have a legal team that will be helping you with all the paper work and their service charge is $1000 and this amount has to be paid before they process your file.
Do you think you can afford this amount?"

We're getting nowhere if questions aren't answered. Also we spice the mail with seeds for future complications.. đ
"Good afternoon my friend,
Thank you for your swift reply. What do we need the $10000 for when we have all those millions? Can't we just skim a little of the top to pay for the document fees?
Btw. You didn't answer my question my friend. Are you a man of faith in the Lord, James? This is very important to me, as I am a faithful of the church of SCUEL, and as such we are forbidden to enter into transactions with the unsaved.
Donalda was thrilled about the millions! She can't wait to start spending them. I actually had to forbid her to order a fur coat today, saying she have to wait until the transaction is concluded to order anything.
I hope you have a wonderful evening, and look forward to hearing from you again.
Your friend
Gillette..
PS. I tried to contact my financial adviser, mr Ebenezer today to tell him to disregard my information about the millions, but he is out of town, and probably hasn't seen my mail."

Getting a scammer off of his script is important to gaining control over your bait. Asking questions that require more than a yes or no answer, which you are doing wonderfully, is the first step. Love how you're getting a second character involved so quickly. So many options become available with Ebenezer.

I see.. So we can't just skim the top of the millions to pay for the fees.. Why am I not surprised? đ
"I am a man of faith. I do understand your question about we talking out money from the money to pay fees. But, you should understand that at this point, we do not have access to the money and the only one who will have access to this money is the Next of Kin when we are finally approved. So is either you are with me or you are not working with me. If you want this deal, you have to accept to pay the legal fee without involving any third party. I do not know any Ebenezer and we cannot get anyone involved in this transaction."

But how does a poor guy raise $1000 for fees in the middle of a pandemic with rioting and looting going on left and right. This might get complicated..
"Hello my friend,
Thank you for setting me straight. I hadn't realized that the funds werent available for us to skim the top of yet.
So we need $1000 for the fees, huh? That is quite a lump sum to have available now, in the middle of the corona epidemic and all the riots. I am sure I will be available to get the money somehow, but I need to think a little on how to get it.
I'll get back to you with an answer shortly. Trust me James, I'll find a way to get the $1000! We can't have such a bump in the road derailing our entire endeavor and stop us from getting our hands on that wad of cash!
Your friend and partner
Gillette
PS. As for Mr. Ebenezer, he is my accountant and financial advisor. In my initial enthusiasm over our millions, I happened to send him a mail about my luck, before hearing your advice about discression. I am very sorry about that, but today I sent him a mail telling him to disregard the first information. I will keep our transaction away from prying eyes from now on."

He's not even trying to get Gillette to like him.. Maybe its time to introduce Ebenezer to give him a slap?
"How much time do you need?"
My reply is just as short and impolite as his question..
"As long as it takes"

He is putting preassure on our hero.. Hmm.. what to do now.. Enter Ebenezer with a scamwarnong, or introduce a barrister to steal his maga?
"This transaction cant be pending. Since you do not have a time frame, I will have to offer someone who is willing to make the payment tomorrow. "

At that point, I would respond with "I understand. Offer it to someone else. I can't get the fee until next week". I have yet to find a scammer that just disappears. I love it when they issue ultimatums like they don't care.

I tried that one, but so far it actually seems like he dropped me..
"I understand. It will take me at least a week to secure the funds for the fee, so I guess you'll have to give it to someone else then.
Goodbye"
I stand corrected. This one just dropped into my mailbox. This guy sure doesn't waste his words. Think I'll keep radiosilence for a couple of days and see what happens..
"Give me a date? "

His refusal to get off script annoys me, so I decided to introduce a rival, and see what happens. It might be too early, but I hope it has the desired effect. If not, its a lesson learned..
"Its all OK. Barrister Onyemachukwu contacted me today and sent me the claim documents. Tomorrow I will take them to pastor Nero in my church and ask him for a loan. Barrister Onyemachukwu assured me he is a christian in good standing with the Lord, so I am pretty sure pastor Nero will be prepared to loan me the 1500 dollars for the fee.
Onyemachukwu will call me tomorrow afternoon so we can discuss the particulars and get this transaction concluded.
Gillette
PS. Onyemachukwu was quite a bit irritated that you gave the wrong sum for the fee, so I am sorry if he gives you a scolding when he calls you."

Hmmm.. I fear I might have come on to strong, and that the scammer has dropped me. I'm doing one last attempt to wake him up, and if it doesn't work, its on to the next one. Then in a couple of weeks I'll rebait him with another format..
"Hi,Â
I am just back from a meeting with pastor Nero, and he agreed to loan me the $1500. Now I am just waiting for the barrister to call and give me the payment details. First thing monday morning I will make the payment, and then the funds can be released.
Thank you for giving me this opportunity James! I am a very happy man!
Yours
Gillette"

Not every bait turns into a saga. I don't feel you did anything wrong at all and he may just be digesting what you've given him. Like you said... he's still there to be tried again.
