The Australian Government have teamed up with Australian Banks to try and curb people from becoming victims to scams. It's named Scam-Safe Accord. I hope it works and helps those less able to see and understand scams.
I don't know about anyone else but I have been involved in six data leaks since late last year, through no fault of my own. Legitimate businesses have my email address for communication etc. and these were compromised. Some of these data leaks only stole email addresses but others downloaded much more of my personal information.
The scammy emails come in waves, mostly referring to a match on eharmony, apparently I've been caught on webcam doing something very naughty 🤣 and the latest is a questionnaire on pallets. WTF! To be on the safe side I can always unsubscribe from them 🤪🤪 bwahaha.

If you use the unsubscribe links in scam emails, this might notify the scammer that your emailaccount is active and you might receive even more emails. Best is to mark them as spam and regularly empty the spam folder.
But it's very good news that the Australian government is stepping up

I'm getting a lot of scams in my gmail spam supposedly from McAfee and Trend Micro telling me about the money they've just deducted from my "preferred payment method". I don't use either one.
One that made me laugh was one from the "GEEK SQUAD". That was new to me!

Ah, so you are getting the run of the mill tech ones. The pallet scam I've received 3x now and it amused the hell out of me, I wonder what the questions are? How do you rank pallets? Okay, to let everyone know, I know the link is the catch
----------------- eta: for anyone who wants to check if their email addresses have been compromised or not, this is a good resource to use have i been pwned? The site has been created and is run by a well respected Microsoft (Community) MVP, so it's safe to use.

Firstly clicking unknown links on the internet can be dangerous... and also on many (Not all) these emails you will notice that they didn't notice or don't care that they already put the "who to contact to unsubscribe" information. I've seen before two different addresses and companies listed back to back on the bottom of emails.

I've got a (possibly dumb) idea... forward the ones with scammy links to your scambaiting inbox, then click on them there. It may not work, but it also could result in an influx of scambait-able emails. Although I also would advise against clicking the links unless you know that's all they do. Another possibility is that they could be hardwired to send new emails to the original account they sent the scam to.
Another possibility is that they would lead you to the exact same phishing sit the other links would.

Definitely not a good idea. These emails are so not baitable; these criminals paid for stolen data gained from data breaches. They only want to waste their time sending out bogus emails to as many people as possible hoping some will bite...they are only in it for a quick buck. As I said above in a roundabout way, the link will have the payload. Clicking on it will either: 1. infect my PC with a virus and all of my files and images will end up having a different extension making them unviewable and unreadable. But...if I send $795 through BTC they will email the key to unlock them (one very good reason for making weekly backups). Of course the inconvenience will be going back to the OOBE and setting up / installing everything again. 2. phishing attempt where CC details are needed for whatever reason.
Yeah, not gonna happen.

The Geek Squad is a "division" of "Best Buy," a US big box store. When they sell you a computer, they will gladly sell you service to set everything up, including antivirus programs. Many seniors use the service.

^ I have similar feelings about the IMF, and said as much via Captain Mal: "You lead an organisation that is responsible for so much harm in the world. You see everything in terms of the bottom line, dollars and cents, numbers and percentages, and you don't give a fuck for the people who suffer because of your gorram fiscal dogma".
