Found an email from "General Frank", the alleged head of the M23 rebel movement in the DRC. (incidentally, wikipedia does not list him as such - at least try to impersonate a real rebel leader) All emails from him will be in orange ink.
He wants to arrange grain shipments to his movement. As my baiting character is a wannabe businessman who is married to a much wealthier woman with various shady connections, (all emails from him will be in purple ink) this sort of thing is right up his alley, and he responded with:
You wish to arrange grain shipments from me? Please tell me more about this.
The scammer's response was as follows:

Frankly, I contacted you, believing we could do business together, following the urgent demands for RICE supply in my region.
We need shipment for Long grain broken 5% parboiled RICE.
We are willing to start shipment between 30,000 Metric Tonnes of RICE, each for straight 6-months
This shipment will be expected between every month interval, for straight six months.
Due to the high challenge and demands for survival of the inhabitants of this region in Congo DRC,
I was mandated to get another supplier/Agent or broker to assist in the shipment.
In this course, I have to demand your service, in order for us to gain agreement as business partners for this shipment.
You and I can agree on a confidential deal, before we can proceed further.

Now, I decided that he was not going to receive any such thing, given that my character's company does not actually exist, so I pushed him a bit regarding his credentials to get his mind off my info:

While this kind of thing isn't something she's adverse to - just ask the Bougainvilleans - she would need some sort of proof from you that you are in fact equipped to make these deals. I have an idea, could you take a picture of yourself in your general's uniform? I would be able to show that to her as proof that you're the real deal, because while I believe you, my wife has a more paranoid mind.
He did not seem to like the idea of a picture in a general's uniform (I had no real hope of a trophy from that one tbh but I figured I might as well ask) and responded with:

(I accidentally linked Lenny's British number instead later on but the scammer did not notice the discrepancy) Take care not to talk over him, please, and he's rather old and may not immediately understand what you mean. Still, he'd be a definite asset in convincing my wife to go for this deal, if you could convince him.

I doubt Lenny even knows what WhatsApp is, he's a very old man - he only has a phone number. And yes, he is aware of this business transaction, but he needs a call to convince him, I'd say.
And although he does know of the deal he may be a bit confused at first about who is calling - just make sure to make clear that you're from the M23 and are calling about the grain shipment, he'll know what you mean after that. (as if)

So that's where I am currently with him, and he has not called Lenny yet per STS' site - I'm thinking that I can fairly naturally derail him from his script later on as I'm very much not under the impression that "30,000 metric tonnes of rice" is the sort of thing this scammer knows about, and its a format I think is probably fairly new. I may decide to evangelise to the poor rebels and try to convert him to the glory of the Holy Lamb as well.
