As I've mentioned before, scammers, for the most part, have no understanding what diplomats really are and what they do. Instead, many scammers have the idea that diplomats are no more than couriers of some kind. Here's my most recent example.
The scammer's emails are date-stamped; his name has been changed. My comments are in bold.

Hello Sir,Good Morning , My name is Maximilian Miller . I'm the Diplomat incharge of the package that will be delivered to you in due time. Your briefcase consignment that was supposed to be delivered to you was held in Spartanburg Airport Greenville, South Carolina for transhipment certification act to confirm the legalisation and authentication of its content. Together with our professional team , we promise our very best to ensure your package arrives safely to your door post and please send us your current address and your cell phone to contact you on arrival.
