I actually had a scammer come clean. We still chat and he's not a bad guy. I told him I was a guy bating scammers and he laughed. We're regular pals now! I will post some screenshots of our chat soon. I still keep an arms length from him but it was kinda nice to see a tiny bit of remorse

I'd be very, very cautious about sharing anything with a scammer, even if he does claim to feel remorse.
I've had a few scammers "come clean" and they still end up demanding money; one of them was still sending out scam scripts while claiming to have given it up. |

Like Yastreb, I've had my share of scammers "come clean". While I understand the feeling of wanting to share a laugh and tell him I'm baiting him, the truth is that he will continue to scam and I would've educated him that there are baiters. In other words...he's a little better scammer now.
ETA This is not the same as "burning" a scammer. That is where a person tells the scammer that he/she has been baited just to rub it in and have a laugh at the scammer's expense.

Someone on YouTube supposedly was helping a scammer get his life together. At first I thought he was being gullible and naive. I even left a few comments trying to educate him about scammers. After watching a few of his videos I realized he was a sham. He was creating all these "reform a scammer" videos to sell a book and promote a sponsor. Scammers are lying thieving crooks who get righteously indignant if anyone calls them a scammer. "he's not a bad guy" yes he is. He's a scammer. There's nothing good about making a living by stealing someone's life savings and causing people to lose their homes and sometimes their lives. |
