On January 1, 2020 CST, Scambaiting Forum will no longer be a registration only website. The only portions not available to the general public will be the Phone Baiting forum and any others deemed so by Scambaiting Forum staff.
We will have a separate post dealing with how to post your baits to safeguard them from accidentally being found by scammers.

We will definitely have some problems with the scammers, because some of them love to use search engines and because Google indexes absolutely everything. It happened to me a few times, on another forum... and I lost some potentially beautiful stories. I wish it didn't happen again!... there (on that forum) I modified absolutely all the details of my stories, but here I wrote (so far) everything "without caution". Because I knew Google couldn't index these topics.
We will need to move some "sensitive" topics from "public area" to a password-protected area (can it be created?).
And, in the future, we will need to use other proper names for the characters in our "public visible" stories.

I've been in that same boat, Birlic. Lost a couple of well set up baits and it hurt. This is a change that we did not go into lightly. The main reason that pushed us in this direction is that we do have some wonderful baits here and we want them to be appreciated.
We knew that our members would have some feedback and concerns, so we did not do this overnight. I do understand that our members have posted their current or completed baits under a login and will need some edit IF they want them to stay.
Please PM myself, or any staff, about specific baits that need to be addressed. Thank you.

Of course yes, everything is fine and I understand very well the reason behind this decision. No problem! I will try to modify together with Linoline some of our current topics, so that all the names are altered accordingly.
I will probably need some help with the older stories, the religious ones, where I don't have the power to edit the posts of our colleagues (Frazzle and the rest of those who have contributed). I will try to make a complete inventory and I will come back with details.

Can you say which part of the forum will be behind a login? I posted about my shipping company and safari resort in the baiting toolkit. I can remove the posts, but then others can't use the modalities. I like them to be open to all, but don't want the scammers to find them.

The same situation is for my "The Church" modality... it is a tool that I offered to all my colleagues, but I prefer that the scammers do not find it available.  |

As of now, only Phone Baiting will be behind a login. Your modalities will need a new home and we will get that situated before opening the site up.

OK, I modified all the recent posts I had access to. All I want from the moderation team is to remove "my church" name from the forum posts. That is, instead of S-C-U-E-L only the generic name " The Church" should appear. Is it possible? Thanks a lot!
