On January 1, 2020 CST, Scambaiting Forum will no longer be a registration only website. The only portions not available to the general public will be the Phone Baiting forum and any others deemed so by Scambaiting Forum staff.
We will have a separate post dealing with how to post your baits to safeguard them from accidentally being found by scammers.

We will definitely have some problems with the scammers, because some of them love to use search engines and because Google indexes absolutely everything. It happened to me a few times, on another forum... and I lost some potentially beautiful stories. I wish it didn't happen again!... there (on that forum) I modified absolutely all the details of my stories, but here I wrote (so far) everything "without caution". Because I knew Google couldn't index these topics.
We will need to move some "sensitive" topics from "public area" to a password-protected area (can it be created?).
And, in the future, we will need to use other proper names for the characters in our "public visible" stories.

How essential is this? What are the advantages?
I fear that it will educate scammers on our many and various baiting/time wasting techniques.
Our numbers are steadily growing and this is such a friendly and helpful site.

This will allow the site to grow and bring in new baiters. Scambaiting sites have been on the internet for close to 20 years and YouTube is full of similar channels. Everyone should be seeing a new forum titled "Members Only" on the site now. That, and "Phone Baiting", will be behind member login.
