It would've been so terrifying being on that plane and seeing that and thankfully no people on the ground became statistics from the falling debris.

Just over ten years ago, a Qantas Airbus A380 with 469 souls aboard suffered a near-catastrophic "uncontained engine failure" that destroyed one engine, damaged one wing (puncturing a fuel line and damaging flight controls), and sent debris tearing into the avionics bay, crippling many flight systems, and causing two of the remainfing three engines to partially lose power. Parts of the damaged engine fell on a town, one fragment crashing through the roof of a school, but fortunately caused no harm. Faced with potential disaster, the flight crew showed consummate skill in bringing the airliner to a safe landing with no loss of life or injuries.
