On my burner number I use an alias. I used to get a TON of cold calls on it from people from a certain Asian country known for phone scams. I gave them an alias and got some good fun out of them and tying up their lines or confusing them. They would often call from a spoof'd local number.
Today I got a call from a 1-800 number. I answered as these are usually the most fun cold calls to take. Most times it is a scammer who spoof's a legit companies number and pretends to be that company. I messed with Direct TV scammers, Social security etc... it was obvious from the callers location and from their focus they were only interested in my CC info.
Well... on to today's call.. it was an actual American woman who answered the phone and knew my "name" (She gave the fake alias name I use frequently). An Indian Scammer must of sold them my contact details... what a bummer because all of it is fake, including my name. She was VERY professional and asked if I was interested in a quote and transferred me to another agent who answer the phone. This guy spoke perfect English and perfect customer service manners. I lost interest in the call and just put it on speaker phone and let them listen to at first a youtube video I was watching while not saying a thing.
Now they are in the other room still on speaker phone listening to a V-tuber girl with a VERY high pitched voice talk for about an hour now.
What surprises me is that they have NOT hung up. They still have me on the line, and I am glad to remain on the line tying up one of their phone lines... which now makes me wonder about this company... who keeps their phone lines open like that? Normally after not hearing a response they hang up.
I googled the number and it came back with multiple legit results about how to get a free insurance quote and to call them. Seems like a possible legit question... just odd that they are willing to keep one of their phone lines tied up while I play nonsense noise in the back ground for them to hear.
