Please clue me in on what's happening with you and the courier. They should have gotten in touch with you about it, and I'd like some reassurance. I thought you would too.
The courier company was bcc'd.

It is very possible that he did not have ID documents prepared in the name of David A., which would explain his lack of communication.
Of course, Sender can change the recipient's name... I want you to email me (Claude) the message you received from the idiot.

I don't understand the problem. If something is getting delivered to that PO Box, it doesn't matter what name's on the package. That's how it works. We're not talking Western Union.
He then forwards the orphan's email to the courier:
The receiver of the parcel sent with Tracking Number ********* has told me that he has a problem, as detailed below. I'm not convinced that there's a problem, but it there is, can the receiver be amended? I've cc'd the original receiver on this.

Me too, but he's Yastreb's scammer and he has to decide what to do next. We have 2 possibilities: #1 - we accept the passport as valid for authentication and we release the package... in a few days we can take it to Cotonou and ask the idiot to take them from there. #2 - we condition the delivery by a "biometric authentication" and we ask for those funny BIP pictures... only after that we continue with the scenario #1.

Mal is still slightly dubious about what's happened. I'm going to press Aibbias David for some explanations. The firm can put things on hold until then. So, Claude just got this, with the orphan cc'd:
For the time being, I would ask that the change of name not proceed until I have settled some questions with D. A. relating to the need for the change in the first place. I hope to be able to resolve matters soon.
Mal then sent this to the orphan:
My number is REDACTED. We're going to have to talk things through, because I'm puzzled by the name change deal. My hours are somewhat flexible, though evenings (1800 and after) would be more suitable.

OK, developments...

So I called...
Immediately after that, Mal wrote to the couriers, cc'ing the orphan (emphasis in origina).
Mr A. has just told me that you have already changed the receiver's name. If that's true, then I'm not happy, because I hadn't given approval. As it happens, I'm agreeing to the receiver being changed from [A. D.] to [S. P. O.], but I don't like unilateral action being taken like that.
Then Mal forwarded the email he sent on 8 February with the contents of the package listed.
I was right! I sent you a full listing of what was in the package just four days ago!

I don't want to second-guess the company's methods, but they must have their reasons. Just remember that the sooner the package gets to you, the better things will be for you.

So hang on, help is on its way. Everything's going to work out, and you can rest easy and wait for things to clear up; though no-one knows when that's going to happen.
But I don't get that bit about my phone being busy or off; and even with the former, I've got voicemail. I'll have to check that.
Incidentally, I sent this to Birlic and Linoline just before 0100 AEST today.
