If you do not have identity documents, we will authenticate The Receiver using the biometric procedure. It is commonplace and often used if the identity documents of the Reveivers are not very clear. Do not worry, you will receive your parcel. We are talking about some special photos of the Receiver, taken under certain special conditions stipulated in the Regulations. These photos are entered into a computer and an analysis software creates a so-called biometric profile, used to properly authenticate the receiver. It is a relatively simple procedure and does not cost anything extra, it is done for free for our clients.

I will be back to you with detailed explanations later or tomorrow morning after I will ask my colleagues from the IT department about the exact requirements of the BIP (biometrical identification process) procedure.

Dear Sir,
I just received the official answer of my colleagues from the Legal Department and they will immediately allow the resumption of the delivery conditioned by an additional authentication. This is what I told you in my previous post. In this case, we will use authentication through the BIP (Biometric Identification Process).

The BIP procedure requires a set of pictures to be made in specific positions. This will allow a compute algorithm to generate a unique and personal Biometric Profile for you, which then can be used to identify you upon delivery. To be able to distinguish any discerning marks or tattoos, you will have to remove your shirt and pants. Please note that we do NOT require (nor accept) nude pictures! Underwear must be worn at all times.

The positions are:
#1) With raised arms, horizontally besides the shoulder and feet close to each other,
#2) With hands high above the shoulders and legs apart.

This specific position is called The Vitruvian Man (Please use Google for examples). The Vitruvian Man position is used in various studies related to ideal human proportions, in recognition of human movements in software programs and now for our Biometric Identifcation Procedure.

In total, the BIP-procedure requires 8 pictures:
- 2 photos from the front (positions: #1 and #2),
- 4 photos from the side / lateral position (2 pictures from the left side for each of two position... and 2 pictures from the right side for each of two position),
- 2 photos from the back (position #1 and #2).

It is very recommended that the pictures be taken outside, in a good light, so that all your biometric details are visible. The photos must be of good quality and very clear. If you have some particular signs on your body (scars, unhealed wounds, tattoos, moles or warts, etc.) it is good to pay special attention to them. A software algorithm analyzes all those photos and creates a personal biometric profile (yours) that will be used for authentication (at the time of delivery). Your parcel is cataloged as HVC type (high value content), so it will be delivered only to you, in the presence of the local manager. All the related costs (handling, storage, customs clearance) are already paid by the Sender, so you will have only to sign a package receipt document and that's all. There are no additional costs for you.

For compliance, I send you an example (see the attachment). It is about a package that arrived yesterday in Cameroon and where there were inconsistencies related to the delivery address. The Receiver sent this set of his pictures and based on them the Biometric Certificate of Authenticity was issued by our IT Deparment and the package was delivered without problems.

The 8 photos must be sent to us at the original resolution (as they are in the phone), because they will be processed and recorded electronically here in our IT Department. Send me your biometric pictures as soon as possible, so that I can unlock the delivery and the package can be sent to the destination.

The Biometric authentication is mandatory in these cases and ensures a security of the delivery process. Let me mention to you that, until delivery, the owner of the package is the Sender and that only the Sender can order changes to the delivery procedures. I must also mention that the refusal to take over the package after more than 14 days is considered abandonment and the regulation provides for clear procedures regarding this situation.

If you wish, we can use a "transfer of responsibility" (this is called the procedure by which the company hires a third company) and we can send the package from Accra to Lagos with DHL or FedEx or another company operating in Nigeria. The procedure is relatively simple, but it can be approved only by Sender (as the owner of the package).

So yes, we can do this if the Sender accepts this transfer of responsibility. Our company will pay the full cost of transport on the Accra-Lagos route, because it is our fault that we could not deliver to the address in the contract. We assume this regretable mistake and we will pay the transport bill to your address.

The procedure will probably take 2-3 days but is relatively simple:
- a joint commission is formed by: our local manager in Ghana + a representative of the new courier company (DHL, FedEx or another) + a customs officer.
- the package is opened and a complete inventory is made of all the goods inside.
- the inventory list is sent to Sender, for approval and confirmation,
- the Sender must accept and approve the inventory list component (to make sure that the products in the package are the ones that the Sender sent).
- the package is resealed and handed over to the new courier representative.
- he signs the document of receipt of the package and thus assumes the legal responsibility for the integrity of the package and the correct delivery.

After the package is picked up by the new company representative, our company discharges any legal responsibility related to the delivery of the package. I hope that you are satisfied now with the collaboration with us. I am waiting for the confirmation and acceptance of the Sender to order the start of this operation.
