I'd welcome suggestions on how to make progress from here. Remains to be seen if I've managed to reel this scammer back in, enough to have fun with him.
Some threads I could try & develop:
Back on 21-Dec-21, a compensation payment, intended for Zazah, was incorrectly paid to the nefarious hacker Mr.Oliver Ibori Oyinlola. Zazah knows that Jim's computer or mail account is compromised and the recipient account for that payment was altered. Maybe Jim could make arrangements to meet Zazah in Accra but Mr Oyinlola, monitoring Jim's communications, meets him in the Heathrow departure lounge instead.
As mentioned way back, Jim has heart surgery coming up. Waiting for next available surgery slot could prevent foreign travel. Zazah seems unable to send his agent to the uk however.
Or arrange to meet in Accra but stupidly buy tickets that land in Kumasi instead. Not sure how plausable that might be.

I'd welcome suggestions on how to make progress from here. ... Well, I don't think you should go to Ghana, but you definitely can go to Togo. - You claim that one of your old friends has a nice property there (Lome, in Togo) and that you go to visit him. - In Lome is a "luxury" neighborhood (named Residence du Benin) with nice restaurants and big houses for the "rich people". - Your friend has a beautiful house there, with a gorgeous garden and pool and you will of course take advantage of his invitation to spend a few days relaxing. - Your friend has strongly advised you not to go to Ghana... because of the "high level of crime" ... but he generously has offered to host mr. Zazah's representative for a few days. - Your character (mr. Jim) will of course be delighted to pay any expenses incurred by the scammer's trip from Accra to Lome. - There are only 200 km between Lome and Accra and the journey takes 3-4 hours. So, it's something relatively "easy to do" for a scammer who thinks he'll make a lot of money. You have to resist the pressures that the scammer will put on you, respectively to come to Accra. If he is located in Accra, then of course he will want his "victim" to come there because he can control the situation... Jim will be of course very stubborn and will say that "I am already making a huge effort to come from UK to Africa, in Togo... so, you can easily make a small effort and travel 2-3 hours to meet me. If this seems impossible to you, then you may not respect me enough... and probably it is the case to rethink our entire collaboration and it's time for me wait you coming to UK to conclude everything". Maybe he'll think it's worth the effort to travel, if Jim is determined and stubborn enough. The idea of "getting the tickets" wrong and getting to Kumasi is not good, because the scammer will insist that you take a bus and come to Accra. He will claim that "Here in Accra is the bank / the hotel etc etc" and you will end up in a closed corner.

I don't seem to be able to walk around Residence du Benin in Google street view. It's not a gated community with onsite security? That wouldn't be a good venue for a robbery.
I have no proof as yet that he actually is in Ghana.

dm601. It doesn't matter that the map it doesn't have Google StreetView images, because it's enough to look at the "top" images (satellite view) and see all those houses with swimming pools... all the streets there have free access, there are no any barriers. There are schools, restaurants etc... It is an open residential neighborhood, NOT a small closed community! 2. From his last messages, it can be seen that he insists that your character reach Ghana. So, either he or someone he trusts lives there. We are talking about a large amount of money, so that person is very close to Zazah.

^^^ Yeap, a perfect written message! Both Ghana and Togo are in ECOWAS, so access for their citizens from one country to another is allowed without the need for a visa (just as in the case of the border area between Nigeria and Benin). So, dear scammer Zazah cannot invoke the visa issue, as a reason for his eventual refusal to travel... of course, your character will be extremely offended if Zazah did not make this small effort. Right?

Jim's invitation to an expenses paid trip and restaurant dining isn't received with the appreciation one might have expected.
Hobdi > Green Perhaps Jim should clarify that his invitation was of course to Zazah's agent. Zazah himself will be no doubt be busy on matters of greater, at times even international, importance.

Interesting bait dm60 . You are doing it very good. I think it would be better to let the scammer know that your friend Nicky is in the UK for the time being and that he has servants that are taking care of his property while he is away. Two young ladies that are taking care of the cooking and cleaning are also staying at the house. If your friend Nicky is in Lome at the same time as you are there, I think the scammer can easily think that Nicky will warn you about doing this business because he is suspecting it could be a scam. Nicky knows everything about doing business in Africa since he has been doing this for several years. Maybe it would be an idea to positively mention in one of your emails, that you have not mentioned anything to your friend about it because you want to keep it confidential.

^^^ Perfect text! Jim must of course be offended by Zazah's lack of sensitivity and politeness. Also, if Jim tells Zazah that he was contacted by another African businessman (mr. Obi, from Nigeria?), who is of course willing to meet Jim in Lome, then maybe your idiot will reconsider everything. You can, of course, give Zazah some details of "Mr. Obi's nice proposed business" (so that Zazah can understand very clearly that this is a scam). Competitiveness between scammers always works wonders.

Still waiting for Zazah to bite. Normally he responds much quicker than this.
Jim could mail Zazah, mentioning the new approach from Zazah's colleague Mr Obi, and thank Zazah for the referral.

Now it's up to Zalah to decide if this deal shall become a reality or not.

Some interesting advice on how to recognize a hacker from my friend Zazah:

The nefarious hacker Mr.Oliver Ibori Oyinlola has all this while been monitoring Jim's communications. Although my previous post showed the mail sent by Zazah to Jim, by the time Jim actually looked at his inbox, this is what he saw:
Hobdi > Green
And so that is the mail to which Jim replies.

Jim's next message to Zazah, maybe tomorrow, could be from a cybecafe inside Lomé–Tokoin Airport. He's only just picked up Zazah's warning. Jim could be confused, not knowing who to believe. Maybe a last opportunity for Zazah to travel to Lome & collect Jim's fee?
If he still refuses, I guess the next thing is a mocking mail from the Barrister with some salacious mention of the party.
Hobdi > Green
presumably in the hope that one reaches Jim's eyes before Barrister Oyinlola either deletes it or changes the text.

Any ideas as to how Jim might now be in Lomé–Tokoin Airport?
I'm thinking he might just say that the journey from Heathrow was an absolute nightmare, starting out with the Eurostar London > Paris and resist getting drawn into any further detail. Jim is maybe too old & vague to remember anyway. He just showed the airport staff his ticket and they directed him. Something Zazah can't look up and prove false.
I'll say Jim's in a cybercafe somewhere near the airport. Checking his mail from there, Zazah's warning messages can be seen. Offer to meet Zazah somewhere in Lome before the barrister arrives.
Plausable?

- You don't have to explain your air route to Zazah... quite simply, Jim was guided by the airport staff and got where he needed to go. - Tell him that you just arrived safely in Lome and that you intend to spend a few days "relaxing" at your friend's house... he (the friend) is somewhere on a sea trip with his yacht, but he arranged for everything to be prepared for you and for the 2 young local girls who take care of the house to receive you with all their attention. LOL! - Tell him that the meeting with the "barrister Oyinlola" is scheduled for Thursday evening... so you have a few days of "rest and relaxation". If your scammer wants to come, he will try to get there by Wednesday.

Seems he still believes.
By the time Jim reads this message in his inbox, it's got messed up somehow, with important details obscured. Jim replies to the modified version.
Jim says that Zazah's unwillingness to make even a short car journey to meet him has led to his conclusion that he (Zazah) is disrespectful. The Barrister on the other hand has been far more accomodating.
