I've found a top knotch shipping company to take on this job! Next problem is that Zaza wants delivery to an address in Australia. I'm guessing not the scammer, even though the package will contain $12,900 in cash + gifts.

Any thoughts on how to deliver to scammer himself? The cargo plane could be forced to land mid-journey, due to a fuel leak and end up in say ... Chad, but then get stuck there on account of the maintenance staff being on strike.

Any better ideas?

Apologies for the delay, I've hit a bit of a problem.

I went to my bank to withdraw the cash and because it's such a large amount the manager wanted to have a chat with me. She wanted to know why I needed so much, what I was going to do with it and so on. The whole reason I want you to deliver my share of the $14 million in cash is that I want the matter kept private. We've already agreed that you will take 45%. I don't see why I should let the taxman take another half of my share, I'd have very little left. So, I told her that that I'd changed my mind and left. Since then, I've had a letter from them in the post, asking that I visit the branch for another conversation, but I'll ignore it.

I can withdraw a certain amount of cash each day, as long as it's within my daily limit. About £400 I think but I need to check that. It will take me a while to accumulate $13,900 but that way I can pay what I owe you without arousing suspicion. I also have a bit of cash in the house.

So that's my plan.

Do the iphones have to be the colour you sent? The apple store here had only one in stock like that so please send me a picture of what your 2nd choice colour scheme would be.

Everything is sorted. I managed to get the cash from one of my investment accounts instead of using the bank. Cash and phones all parceled up and dropped off at the courier offices in Paddington. Parcel is about the size of a largish briefcase. Following your suggestion I wrote Birthday Gift on the outside although courier staff said that wasn't needed.

Tracking page is updated, showing the recipient but package is still in London, awaiting authentication documents.

I've just seen that I had some mails from you. Why do you need the invoice? Mr Robert doesn't have to pay anything when he get the parcel, I've sorted that out already. I'd thrown it in the bin because I thought my part of the deal is all done. Anyway, the bin men haven't taken the bins yet, so I was able to rescue it.

The parcel tracking page is getting hits every couple of hours from the same 2 users. One in Nigeria & one in Australia.

About 30 hits on the tracking page overnight. The plane still seems to undergoing maintenance at Cairo Airport, possibly some minor mechanical issue.

Lewis Steed, of the courier's customer support, checks his inbox in the morning to find a mail from the parcel recipient Mr Robert. Reading down the thread in that mail, it purports to establish that Mr Robert is not the eventual parcel recipient. Mr Robert is expecting to pass on the parcel to a Mr Paul Beach. Maybe even open the parcel, convert the cash to bitcoin and send Mr Beach that.

Mr Robert writes to Lewis Steed as though Mr Beach is already known to him.

Interestingly, Mr Beach is travelling to Nigeria next week on official business in connection with the Presidential Election.

My query is about the accuracy or updating of the tracking web site seeing it shows the package as being in a pre-flight maintenance stage in Singapore for the past 24 hours while the actual map shows Cairo for the past 48 hours.

Is it possible to have this updated more frequently and accurately.

We all rely on accurate information to make plans and decision for our own clients and right now I have no idea as to when is the most likely time/date of arrival in Brisbane then to my address south of Brisbane.
The package plays an integral part of future business for us here.

I have no trust or faith in accuracy of the tracking web site, the package shows it has been despatched to Singapore for the past 24 hours.

The information given to you there will be a straight flight from Cairo to Australia which is 18 Hours flight. is obviously in doubt.

Timing for a courier company is everything for integrity and capability to provide a good to excellent service .

I would claim that there is a HUUUUGE problem in Cairo... the parcel was scanned and some "irregularities" were seen there. Status of the plane has changed to waiting for maintenance.

If the fault turns out to be more serious than initially supposed, the cargo will have to be unloaded and put on a different plane. That would mean everything getting scanned a second time, a procedure that's been known to throw up the occasional discrepency. Hopefully that won't be necessary.

No, I don't think it's being sent back to London. DeliverStuff were supposed to have delivered it by now to Mr Robert but because they haven't done that, they will refund me the money and deliver it for free. That's good because their service was expensive, about £500.

I just tried out the customer portal that Mr Steed sent me. If you click on it there is a map showing where the parcel is. It looks like its in Cairo. At least we know where it is.

Does it really matter if things are delayed a bit? It's taken us so long to finish this business that even if we wait another week it's not much difference. Security protocols in operation at Cairo International, and the fact that the second aircraft would be chartered from a different operator, would mean everything getting security scanned a second time. Just a quick update on your delivery.

The awaited replacement component arrived a few hours ago and was immediately installed by our on-site engineering staff. Unfortunately, the airplane is still failing the standard pre-flight sytem check and we have no choice other than to ground it pending further investigation.

We have therefore chartered a replacement airplane to which the cargo is currently being reassigned. Security scanning and loading should take no more than 6 hours. There will be a short stop in Singapore after which the flight will continue directly to Australia.

Possible delivery slots to your recipient Mr Robert ***** should become available by Thursday of next week, at the latest.

Please let me again apologize for any inconvenience this delay may have caused. I look forward to hearing from you with regard to arragements for a full refund.

I looked up information and you are allowed to send money through that airport. The only thing is that it has to be declared if it's over a certain limit. Maybe £1000, something like that.

What if I offered to pay Vadik when he delivered the package? Your colleague could open the package when he receives it, out of sight if possible, and pay the $1000 out of the contents. The $1000 would only get paid if the package is delivered unopened. I don't think Vadik knows exactly what's inside, I could tell him that the package contains something of high value to you and I, but of no value to him. A collection of old family photographs maybe or perhaps you could think of something better but still suitable as a birthday gift. Guess I'd have to say that payment would be in British Pounds not US Dollars.

Delivery can be straight to your Ghanaian colleague, no need to go back through the airport. The package will be out of the airport customs office so I don't have to worry about the police at my door here in London.

That would solve all our problems, it's just perfect.

With a proper plan, this can work out well for both of us. Certainly better than getting the package confiscated.

So I'm ready to attempt an overland delivery of my package containing $13,900 and 2 iphones from Cairo to Ghana!

Not sure how to deal with point (2), somehow I'd have to get location updates from the driver. I've made all sorts of excuses so far as to why I don't use a phone. I should have left one of the phones in the package switched on, to report its location.

Regarding (5), obviously the parcel hasn't been opened. If it had, Vadik would have simply stolen it.

Any advice on how to conduct such a journey appreciated. I hear there are many goats to be avoided.

It just so happens that employees are searched on entry to and exit from the customs area. Great caution is needed. Vadik can only remove items when his friend is on checkpoint duty and their shifts don't coincide until that week.

Hello I am Vadik and myself worked in customs office upon cairo
airport. Myself take yours very dodgey parcel and remove it the queue
the plane system cannot look it anytime more if submit of fly again
it would certainly be confiscate. if you are in need of to dodgey
parcel i can do business only cost you $1000. I able to remove
package outside of airport fence and deliver by road instead not

It seems I am reduced to doing business with a blackmailer.

The parcel is very important to me. It contains a collection of irreplaceable family photographs. There is nothing whatsoever dodgy about it. The photographs are old and could be easily damaged by careless handling. Nevertheless, there is a maximum amount I would be prepared to pay and that amount is less than $1000.

I might be prepared to pay you $600 but you get nothing until the unopened and undamaged parcel is in the hand of my friend in Ghana.

How long would it take you to deliver?

Yes, I did get your mesage with his reply that you sent me. Thanks for following that up.

I've replied to Vadik because I don't want my parcel getting put back in the next lot of deliveries and then confiscated. I told him that the package contains valuable photographs.

I'm trying to see how to send you something that I've already sent him so you know what's going on. It's getting a bit complicated. Give me a couple of minutes while I look for the right button.

A few minutes later, Jim figures out how to forward to Zazah the mail he previously sent to Vadik. Preparing Zazah for the argument that it's in everyone's best interests that once the package is removed from the airport, it's entrusted to a professional delivery company.

I've not had a reply yet.

Vadik is just a thief and we really need the package out of his hands as soon as possible.

I suppose Jim would be absolutely convinced that the parcel isn't lost were Vadik to send him a photo of it. Never tried before but could probably add metadata to prove that the photo was recently taken in Cairo, instead of just deleting it all.

I've just now heard from Mr Steed and it seems they can't trace my package although enquiries are still ongoing.

If it can't be found, Vadik must have hidden it somehow. I think we would get it back if he believes there's a payday for him. I'm going to insist that once it's outside the airport perimeter he has to pass it to a fast courier company for 'to the door' delivery. Vadik clearly doesn't speak English and trying to coordinate with him would be a nightmare. Plus of course he's a thief and the less time it's in his hands the better.

As proof he has it, I'll ask what it says on the customs sticker. If he can't tell me what I wrote there it means it's not really in his control.

We are currently using both formal channels and our informal contacts to try and establish both the location of your package and the identity of the individual who mailed you using the name Vadik. Whoever that person is, they are unlikely to be contacting you using their real name. The Cairo Customs Office have checked their database and find no record of UK**** passing through the reassignment security scan. That's odd because our system confirms the loading of the package prior to departure from the UK.

I will update you when I know more.
